We value helpful & committed volunteers.
Volunteers make the load lighter and when you help out at KLPOOCH Resort and Rescue, you not only make a difference to the pooches lives, your presence supports the humans doing the daily heavy lifting.
Compensation is not monetary but the pooches have agreed to pay you in smooches and cuddles.
Dog Wash Day
If you don’t mind getting soapy and have wet dog smells, join us for our Dog Wash Days where volunteers like you can come to our premises and bathe the rescued dogs in our care.
Housekeeping
Dogs get into things - they dig, chew and are curious, cheeky beings. Now multiply all that digging, chewing, curiosity and cheekiness by a gazillion and that's partially the amount of housekeeping we need help with.
Cleaning
Gardening
Sewing
Let's just say there is always something to clean. So if that's where you shine and can help out, please let us know.
Knowledge Sharing
Animal welfare organisations like KLPR don't only need animal care volunteers. We also need volunteers with knowledge to share like accountants, lawyers, writers, dog trainers, media specialists, creatives, and the list goes on.
You might be allergic to dogs but still want to help out, and you can do so. There are many ways to help from writing dog profiles to organising creative fundraisers to sewing dog toys to lending your muscles for some heavy lifting to revamping our website and social media pages.
There is always something to do and everyone is welcome to volunteer in any capacity.
Photography
A good picture (or video) makes all the difference in how quickly pooches get adopted. Good quality photos and videos highlight the vital work we do at KLPR and helps promote our facility.
If you’d like to practise your camera skills, we’ve got plenty of furry “models” who will oblige (or not). We want to show off the pawsome-ness we experience everyday and give human families a better chance at finding their forever pooch(es). If this is something you’re keen on doing, we promise it will enrich your day and that of the doggies at KLPR.

Organising
We would love to be able to figure out which items “spark joy”, but we get distracted by the pooches who spark OVERJOY in us.
We know some of you have perfected your decluttering and organising skills. If you are looking to apply and expand those skills - we need your help!
So if you find joy in organizing, decluttering and making spaces more functional, let us know.
Medical Expertise
Many of our pooches at KLPR are rescued, arriving with very little medical history, and may be victims of cruelty, neglect or homelessness. They come from different locations with different life experiences which means they may also come with infectious disease and behaviour issues.
Shelter medicine dedicated to the care of homeless animals in shelters is important but not readily available.
If you have veterinary experience in epidemiology, preventive medicine, spay-neuter, infectious disease control, policy development and animal behaviour, or are a vet wanting to help in a voluntary capacity, let us know.
(For experienced volunteers)
Cuddlers
Who doesn't have time to cuddle a dog and get all the therapeutic benefits of feel-good hormones oxytocin and dopamine? (Google it.)
KLPR has over 300 pooches that would benefit from cuddle time with you. How so? Besides reducing the stress hormone cortisol in both humans and pooches (again, Google it), cuddling rescued dogs helps to socialise them and creates better bonds of trust.
If you'd like to enrich your day and that of the doggies at KLPR, do let us know.
*for volunteers who also help with other tasks
Maintenance
Are you a DIY whiz? Or maybe you enjoy painting or you know how to build stuff that animals would like and humans find useful... if this is you, let's just say there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS something that needs fixing, upgrading or even building at KLPR.
If you'd like to put your much needed talents to use or have handy ideas, send us a message.
Social Media
Social platforms help organisations like KLPR connect pooches with their forever people. It also increases awareness about animal rescue and welfare, and informs the public about what we at KLPR do. In return it also helps us engage with supporters and volunteers like you who are essential and vital.
You might be way better than us at understanding how to give these pooch posts the most exposure for the sake of finding their forever humans. Or you might have ideas and the skills to revamp our website and social media pages.
If this is something you are skilled at or are happy to assist with, do get in touch.
Tell Us
This isn't an exhaustive list of volunteer opportunities but we hope it has sparked interest.
If you are unable to volnteer on-site, there are other ways to help out from home too.
Remember, there is always something to do and everyone is welcome to volunteer in any capacity.
So if you'd like to help out and need more information on how to go about it, send us a message. We'd love to hear from you!
